Intimate Reparations

ICA Live Art Festival 2022

Intimate Reparations was a ritual performance that explored the decolonisation of the body/land and examined the entanglement of race, power, sex and violence through ritualised bondage and domination on and with the racialized body. BDSM, kink and Shibari became methods to speak to the unspeakable grotesqueness of colonialism. In the process, the performers invited emergent fugitive spaces of tender new ecologies and multi-species intimacies. Can we dream of invoking the libidinal law of the Land itself?
