Cape Town has a scintillating DRAG tradition that dates back to the thirties, especially in vibrant District Six a symbol of forced removals of the apartheid era. Today the pageants, the parties, the hair-dressing salons, and the fabulous drag queen 'balls' still flourish across the City. About Basil Appollis
Basil Appollis won a bursary to study in London before becoming a well-known actor on South African screens and stages. An all-round performer, he is recognised for his music and dance skills and was cast in Kramer-Petersen’s District Six the Musical, toured for two years in Ain’t Misbehavin’, and danced on tour from London to Canada in Take the Floor, (among many others), demonstrating his breadth of talent. His roots are in the Coloured community of Paarl.
