Melanie Boehi – ‘Talking Plants: What does it Mean to Recognise Consciousness in all Living Things as we Navigate the Challenges of the Anthropocene?’

ICA Live Art Festival 2022

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ICA Live Art Festival 2022 focused on the idea of consciousness as common to all life and asked questions about intimacy and the continued precariousness of the human being in a still-untransformed South Africa. Kirstenbosch Gardens provided a unique fauna and flora backdrop to these interrogations, unique in its beauty, yet politically contested ground.
